VIDEO: Evenepoel, Sagan and Alaphilippe's new weapon!
With much fanfare - and stage victories for Remco Evenepoel and Sam Bennett in the Tour of Burgos - Specialized recently launched the super versatile Tarmac SL7. Following the 2021 Trek Émonda and Pinarello (F8 – F10 and F12), this is an all-rounder that excels both on the flat and in climbing!
That ultimate combination seems to be the future for top racing bikes. No more pure aero bikes, but a bike that excels on all fronts. It now saves the Specialized top teams Deceuninck-Quickstep and Bora-Hansgrohe the choice between the aero Venge and the very light Tarmac!
At just 6,8 kilos, the Specialized Tarmac SL7 is exactly at the minimum permitted competition weight. Furthermore, the manufacturer claims that this 2021 Tarmac is no less than 45 (!) seconds faster over 40 kilometers than the Tarmac SL6. It goes without saying that the new weapon from Evenepoel and co is chock full of innovative technology. However, this also comes with a price tag. The SL7 SW top model (choice of Shimano Dura Ace Di2 or Sram RED stage) costs €11.499.
