Van de Moosdijk third in Kegums and in the World Championship!
It was not as 'easy' for F&H as during the previous two competitions, but Roan van de Moosdijk was very impressive on the GP podium for the third time in a row! The 19-year-old Brabander finished fourth and third during the fifth Grand Prix of the season. This meant Kawasaki's fifth podium finish in three races at the Kegums circuit. Mathys Boisrame finished tenth during the GP, Mikkel Haarup is good for fifteenth place. The victory went to Jago Geerts, Tom Vialle remains the leader in the standings. Roan is doing well, climbing from thirteenth to third place during the trip to Latvia.
1st Round
After Mathys secured the third pole position in as many races in Latvia, the team is looking forward to the first round. The Leatt-clad trio get off to a good start and all three are in the top seven going into the first full lap. Mathys is in third place ahead of Roan and Mikkel follows in seventh place. In the first two laps Geerts increases the pressure on Roan for fourth place. As a result, the reigning EMX250 champion has to increase the pressure on his teammate Mathys. He makes a mistake and accidentally stops his machine! Roan takes over third place, but due to a small mistake on the steep jump, Geerts still passes. For the same jump, Mikkel falls a few seconds later! He is off the track but his KX250 is in the middle of the jump. Fortunately, everyone can pass without accidents, but the Dane loses many places. Roan no longer relinquishes fourth place, while Mathys has to settle for fifteenth after a second slide. Unfortunately, Mikkel does not finish during this first heat under warm weather conditions.
2st Round
The second and final heat on the Kegums circuit starts well for Mathys who comes out of the first corner in fourth. He sees fellow countryman Vialle take second place from Mewse and the Frenchman also wants to pass the Brit. That goes wrong and the 22-year-old rider falls. Teammate Mikkel also makes a mistake on the first lap and has to catch up. Roan came out of the first corner outside the top ten, but he managed to set a fast pace. He comes forward very well and halfway through the race he passes Mewse for fifth place. Beaton and Renaux then also have to bow to the Kawasaki rider. With a third place in this round, the SCOTT-backed rider can take to the GP podium for the third time this week! Mathys recovered well and managed to finish ninth in this heat. Mikkel doesn't know how to give up either and the Dane ends up twelfth under the checkered flag.
