Toms Macuks the first leader in the EMX Open!
The first match of the European Open Championship was won by Toms Macuks. The Latvian managed to win both heats in front of his own audience. This makes him the first leader in this new championship. At the Motocenter Zelta Zirgs, Karel Kutsar (2-2) finished second in the daily rankings ahead of Andero Lusbo (4-4). Greg Smets finished tenth on the Kegums circuit, making him the best Laaglander. Mike Bolink (17-17) managed to get into the points in both heats.
The second round Domantas Jazdauskas takes the best start ahead of Kutsar and Macuks. In the initial phase the Lithuanian is allowed to set the pace, but after Kutsar takes over the lead, Macuks does not wait long. The winner of the first heat takes the lead and wins by almost ten seconds. Miro Sihvonen, riding for SKS Racing-Husqvarna, crosses the finish line in third place ahead of Lusbo, who scores a podium spot in the daily rankings. That is not easy because he has to work hard for this position because Kim Savaste and Stefan Ekerold follow at a very close distance. Smets now crosses the finish line in tenth and Bolink is now good for seventeenth place.
