Tim Edberg is fifth again in Kegums!
Tim Edberg also finished fifth during the third race of the European 250cc Championship. The rider from Jonkoping finished ninth and fifth during the heats on the Kegums circuit. There could have been more, but a penalty means that five places are lost in the first heat. The Riley Racing driver is of course doing well in the championship, rising to seventh place despite missing the first race. The victory during this race goes to Yamaha colleague Thibault Benistant who wins both heats and leads the championship.
EMX250:
In the timed training on Tuesday morning, Tim recorded an eighth fastest time. It could have been a little better, but with 48 riders on the circuit it was difficult to find space for a free and fast lap. The Yamaha rider was certainly not dissatisfied with this position. In the first heat, the Alpinestars-clad crosser comes out of the first corner in seventh place. The 18-year-old rider manages to hold this position for almost ten minutes. When fifth man De Wolf makes a mistake, Tim can gain a position. The German Spies enters the fight, but the Riley Racing driver is not surprised. When Facchetti and Goupillon have to leave due to bad luck, places are gained again. In the final phase, Tim's fourth place comes under pressure from Mattia Guadagnini. The former 125cc Youth Champion tries everything but Tim crosses the finish line in fourth. However, things go wrong during the sound control after the match. The machine makes too much noise and five places are lost, so Tim is not fourth but ninth in the results.
Tim is particularly driven behind the starting gate for the second heat over 25 minutes and two laps. The start is a little slower this time and the Hastenberg Racing prepared YZ250F starts just outside the top ten. Full of adrenaline, Tim gets to work and after the first full lap he is already in sixth place! It is a sight to behold how the Swede is working his way forward! In the third round Tim enters the top five and then things get busy. Facchetti, who is in fourth place, is having a hard time and drops the pace, but he does not give up. No fewer than five riders come together and that creates exciting moments. Tim fights with Facchetti but also with Fredriksen and De Wolf. The latter in particular provides a spectacle, but Tim returns time and time again. The spectators enjoy it and with a few minutes left on the clock, De Wolf manages to open a gap. Tim finished fifth and can look back on an impressive second round.
