Ricky Carmichael and Suzuki split
Yesterday Carmichael announced that the contract with Suzuki is coming to an end. The G.O.A.T. was associated with the brand with the yellow machines for 15 years, first as a pilot, then as a team owner and then as an ambassador. Ricky hasn't mentioned which brand he'll be riding next, but it sounds like he's open to opportunities outside of motocross.
Ricky Carmichael: "As times change, I have looked at other opportunities within the motorcycle industry and explored where my experiences can best be applied to grow our great sport. As everyone knows, I also enjoy challenges and seeing what a team of people can do to achieve a great result when working on new projects. As I continue to build on my years of experience as a racer, I am now moving into other aspects of the motorcycle community.”
“This has not been an easy decision, but the future is exciting for me. My love for motorcycles has grown beyond just off-road riding and I look forward to exploring those possibilities even more in the future. I will forever remain committed to promoting our sport. With this I would like to wish everyone at Suzuki success in the future. Friendships go far beyond work relationships, I am fortunate to have many of you as friends, and I look forward to seeing you at the races and on the road!"
