Wrist injury for Mitchel van den Essenburg
No Mitchel van den Essenburg (22) in Axel yesterday. The Husqvarna rider unfortunately injured his wrist again. During the International training race in Arnhem, van den Essenburg experienced so much discomfort that he could no longer hold his handlebars. Research afterwards showed that the wrist had not completely healed as it should after his fall at the end of last year.
Mitchel already went under the knife once before his wrist injury. The intervention was necessary after he fell during a training camp in Spain. However, he continued to suffer from wrist pain for the entire time afterwards. “First I have to be in a plaster cast for 4 weeks. This is followed by another scan. If it is good, I will have to wear the cast a little longer. However, if the scan shows that it doesn't look good yet, I will have to have surgery again."
In any case, we wish Mitchel a speedy recovery.
