Osborne also wins second National of the season!!
The second AMA 450 National of the season was completed on the rain-soaked Loretta Lynn's Ranch. Last week Zach Osborne won the first AMA Outdoor National of the season at the same track. Something, if he wanted to perform that again this weekend, had to do it in completely different circumstances. Because as already mentioned, a heavy thunderstorm had turned the course into one big mud patch.
Justin Barcia's supremacy had certainly not started in the first heat. The Yamaha pilot almost immediately took the lead in the race and would not relinquish it. Most of his fellow competitors would only see him again if he placed them on a round. “BamBam” won the heat with a fifty second lead, ahead of his occasional teammate Broc Tickle. Broc Tickle who replaces the injured Aaron Plessinger performed strongly with this second place!! In third place we found Adam Ciancurolo ahead of the Swede Frederik Noren and in fifth place we found 'only' Zach Osborne. Although this was a strong performance considering his disastrous start. Eli Tomac's engine gave up on Maarten on the last lap. Fortunately, he had already doubled the field to tenth place. He was still listed as ninth in the results, just after Marvin Musquin.
At the start of the second round, Marvin Musquin took the best start, but the Frenchman quickly gave up the lead to another former Grand Prix pilot. Max Anstie quickly took over the lead from the Frenchman. At the start we also saw a collision between Kawasaki teammates Adam Cianciarulo and Eli Tomac. This immediately got Eli Tomac into trouble and achieving a top result immediately became a tough task. Max Anstie felt very comfortable at the front and the Briton would ultimately hold the lead for a long time. However, a fallen straggler delayed the Brit with a few laps to go, allowing the emerging Zach Osborne to slip past the Suzuki pilot. While Max Anstie tried to move back into the lead, passing Zach Osborne. Marvin Musquin passed Max Anstie in the extreme. We saw Zach Osborne cross the finish line first, ahead of Marvin Musquin and Max Anstie. Behind Max Anstie we found Jason Anderson and Adam Cianciarulo.
And what about Eli Tomac?! The reigning AMA Outdoor champion quickly fought his way to the front and at one point even competed for a place in the top five. Unfortunately his efforts were not rewarded as with two laps to go his Kawasaki machine gave up again. As a result, Eli Tomac was only classified twenty-fourth in this second heat. Justin Barcia, the winner of the first heat, also did not finish.
With a fifth place and a victory, Zach Osborne again took the overall victory. This is Adam Cianciarulo (3-5) for Marvin Musquin (8-2).
