Liam Everts wins KNMV ONK 125cc in Boekel
As leader in the European 125cc Championship, Liam Everts was the favorite for victory. The victory didn't come with a double! Everts came first and second on the Boekel circuit, making him the winner. Ivano van Erp impressed, he managed to beat Everts in the second heat. The Yamaha rider finished second in the daily rankings ahead of another debutant Cas Valk! He rode very strongly in the second round and saw his efforts rewarded with a podium place. Next week the second ONK competition will be in Veendam, but because the EMX125 will continue in Italy, today's leading players will not be present.
In the first heat, Smulders takes the best start ahead of Van Erp. Things go wrong for a number of drivers in the first corner! Yourick den Hollander, Senna van Voorst, Frankie Melissant and Kyro Gispen crashed hard. The last one was treated by the first aid, hopefully the damage is not too bad! Van Erp has the lead for the first fifteen minutes, but due to a mistake Everts takes over. The Yoko-clad rider started the race in fifth place and is working his way forward in a controlled manner. He wins ahead of TBS-KTM rider Valk who manages to stay ahead of Nikita Kucherov. Van Erp finishes fourth after falling to fast starter Smulders.
In the second round it is again Smulders with the best start, the BT Racing Team rider is followed by Sem de Lange and Jarno Bos. Van Erp and Everts start the race outside the top five, but come first and second respectively in the first round. Kucherov displaced Smulders from third place in the first round, but the former EMX65 champion is coming back! He finishes third, well behind the leader, ahead of Kucherov and De Lange. On the first full lap, Everts took over the lead from Van Erp, but the Yamaha rider did not give up. In fact, the Ossenaar continues to put pressure on the leader and after almost 20 minutes Everts makes a mistake! Van Erp benefits and wins ahead of Everts, who becomes the winner of the day at 'Circuit Bezuidenhout'.
