Jago Geerts makes up for a lot with a double!
The fourth GP of the MX2 World Championship was won by Jago Geerts. The Balenaar managed to win both heats on the Kegums circuit. Roan van de Moosdijk (2-2) and Mathys Boisrame (3-3) are again on the podium in Latvia.
With two fourth places, Tom Vialle loses no less than 14 points in the championship. The Frenchman remains ahead with eight points ahead of Geerts. Cyril Genot scored strongly in both heats by finishing eleventh and thirteenth. Unfortunately no points for Bas Vaessen and Nathan Renkens.

In the timed training Vialle does not set a good time, but the KTM rider does take the best start. Vialle comes out of the first corner as leader ahead of Geerts, Van de Moosdijk, Boisrame and Simon Langenfelder. Things go wrong in the first corner for Jed Beaton, Rene Hofer and Ruben Fernandez. Vialle seems to distance himself from Geerts who is being put under pressure by Van de Moosdijk. Then the KEMEA driver manages to accelerate and after ten minutes he takes the lead. Vialle has no answer and later Van de Moosdijk and Boisrame also follow, passing the redplate holder. For a moment, Thomas Kjer Olsen seems to be able to attack Vialle, but the 19-year-old rider recovers. Vialle comes fourth ahead of the Dane 'TKO' who is attacked by Mikkel Haarop in the last round. The Kawasaki rider makes a mistake on the last jump. Kjer Olsen finishes fifth for Haarop, who fortunately can continue quickly. Beaton returns to a good eighth place and Cyril Genot remains just outside the top ten. The STC rider crosses the finish line in eleventh place. Both Bas Vaessen and Nathan Renkens will not finish this race.

The sprint to the first corner is won by Vialle, but Geerts makes a nice short turn in the first corner to take the FOX Holeshot Award. Vialle follows but when he comes out of the second bend he sees Van de Moosdijk passing around the outside! The Kawasaki rider also tries to show his lead sign to leader Geerts, but the Yamaha rider remains the leader. In the third laps Boisrame manages to take over third place from compatriot Vialle. The 22-year-old Kawasaki rider then heads for teammate Van de Moosdijk. The duo is not only fighting for second place in this heat but also second place on the podium. The cross rider from the team of Harry and Nathalie Fase do not spare each other and that creates a spectacle on the circuit. Later, Boisrame has to slow down and Van de Moosdijk tries to put pressure on leader Geerts. That doesn't work because Geerts continues to lead and also wins the second heat. Van de Moosdijk is now second ahead of Boisrame. Vialle crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of his compatriot Maxime Renaux. Genot now scores thirteenth while Vaessen and Renkens do not take action.
The next GP will be on the calendar in four days and it will again be at the Kegums circuit.
