Second chance for Nathan Renkens
During the 2nd round in Valkenswaard, Nathan Renkens came into the picture in the MX13 with an excellent 2th place. Until now, the KTM Belgium rider had also had to contend with poorer starts. In the first heat on Sunday his reaction was good, but unfortunately he ended up off the track in the first corner...
Renkens went straight ahead together with GasGas driver Simon Längenfelder. Nathan injured his right knee during the tumble, which meant he could not finish the heats. However, the Liège resident was not the only one who shared in the damage.
The French photojournalist Pascal Haudiquert After all, he was hit by a car and had to go to the medical center for patching up (a broken nose and painful upper body). However, our passionate Moto Verte colleague returned to photograph the end of the first MX2 race. “My nose will carry my 540th GP with it for a while,” Pascal joked. “But that didn't stop me from finishing my work!”
For Renkens, tomorrow's two rounds offer a second chance to turn the tide in Latvia. Kegums 1 was also an exercise to forget as quickly as possible for super-talented Längenfelder. In the Dutch GP, the 16-year-old German finished 5th in one heat.
