Geerts takes revenge with victory during the second heat
For the first time in history, a Frenchman has won the MX2 Grand Prix of Latvia. Tom Vialle finished first and second on the Kegums circuit, which gave him his second GP victory of the season. The 19-year-old rider significantly increases his lead in the title battle to 22 points! In addition to Vialle, Roan van de Moosdijk (2-4) and Mathys Boisrame (4-3) are on the podium. That of course makes for happy faces at the F&H Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team. Jago Geerts has a tough first heat in which he only finishes 16th. During the second round the Yamaha rider takes revenge by taking the victory.

After 154 days, the starting gate is finally lowered again for the FIM MX2 World Championship. Simon Laengenfelder seems to get the best start with Rene Hofer, but both teenagers go too wide in the first corner. Vialle slips in and wins the FOX Holeshot Award ahead of Geerts, Van de Moosdijk and Boisrame, who started from pole position. The World Cup rivals immediately enter a duel with each other and the KEMEA driver makes a mistake. Geerts falls, causing him to fall far back. Vialle has a firm grip on the lead. Halfway through the race, he has a lead of more than seven seconds over Van de Moosdijk. At the same time, Geerts is chasing teammate Ben Watson, but the rider from Balen makes another mistake. Geerts crashes hard and has to recover from this crash. With eight minutes left on the clock, Ruben Ferandez manages to take over third place from Boisrame. The Frenchman broke his brake lever after a collision in the early stages, but managed to score very well in fourth place. Rene Hofer does the same because the 18-year-old Rookie crosses the finish line in fifth place. Genot finished twelfth for Vaessen and Geerts still scored five points with a sixteenth place. Unfortunately, Renkens does not reach the finish.

Also during the second heat it is Vialle who takes the FOX holeshot. The Frenchman is followed by Boisrame, Geerts and Van de Moosdijk. Things go wrong for Hofer in the initial phase and the Austrian leaves the match early. In the third laps Geerts manages to take second place from Boisrame. After that, the Troy Lees Design-clad motocross rider manages to get closer to leader Vialle little by little. Halfway through the race, 20-year-old Geerts takes over the lead. Later Boisrame also arrives, but in the final phase it is between Geerts and Vialle. At the start of the last lap, Vialle manages to take over the lead for a moment, but Geerts does not let that happen and comes back. Geerts wins ahead of Vialle, 22-year-old Boisrame, Van de Moosdijk and Ben Watson complete the top five. Vaessen crosses the finish line in twelfth place and Genot again scores well with fourteenth place. Renkens also leaves the race early in this second round.
Next Wednesday the fourth Grand Prix of the season will be held in Kegums!
