Bradley Mesters lives up to his role as favorite
All eyes were on Bradley Mesters who will start the KNMV Open Dutch Championship 85cc Large Wheels as favorite. The Brabander managed to control the race, the F&H Racing Shop rider trained the fastest and subsequently won both heats on the Boekel circuit. Lotte van Drunen makes a special debut, the South Holland rider comes second in both heats and Damien Knuiman (3-4) completes the podium. The second competition will be held next week, which will be organized in Delfzijl.
In the time training Mesters is the fastest but he does not have a good start. Van Drunen, who switched from the 65cc GW, gets off to a very good start and the lady boldly takes the lead. Ten Kate follows and Damien Knuiman also starts the race well over 15 minutes and a lap. Without doing anything crazy, Mesters comes forward and on the third lap he takes the lead. Van Drunen and Ten Kate follow and this trio has already come a long way. Only in the final phase does Mesters really manage to distance himself and the Brabander wins. Van Drunen comes second ahead of Knuiman! The Wijchen resident knows how to take advantage when Ten Kate has fallen. Roan Tolsma managed to finish fourth ahead of the disappointed Ten Kate.
Van Drunen also managed to get the best start in the second round ahead of Danilo Riemsdijk, Mesters and Ten Kate. In the first lap Mesters works his way up to the lead and then quickly expands on it. The rider from Waalre wins the second heat with an almost 15 second lead. Van Drunen makes a big impression because Ten Kate tries to take over second place, but he does not succeed. In fact, Ten Kate bites the dust again, after which the way is clear for the KTM Youth MX Team rider from Sliedrecht. Ten Kate managed to finish third ahead of Knuiman and Husqvarna rider Tolsma.
