Benistant takes De Wolf in the last round!
In a very impressive way, Thibault Benistant won the first round of the fourth race of the European 250cc Championship. The Frenchman did not have the best start, but in the last lap he successfully attacked leader Kay de Wolf! The Husqvarna rider finished second ahead of Tim Edberg, who created happy faces at Riley Racing-Yamaha. With eleventh place, Liam Everts remains just outside the top ten, but the EMX125 leader scores very well. The last point during this heat goes to Marcel Conijn.
The rookie Meico Vettik has got the hang of it and he takes the lead from Tom Guyon and Gianluca Facchetti. The Frenchman sees Bastian Boegh pass Damm on the first lap, but the Dane cannot follow the duo at the front. After more than ten minutes, Facchetti has to leave the match, the Italian is again unlucky and does not score. De Wolf therefore climbs to second place after Boegh-Damm has to slow down considerably and even disappears from the race. The Eersel resident manages to take the lead after more than 15 minutes of the match. Vettik then sees Edberg pass, but the Swede's deficit to the leader is more than eight seconds. Then Benistant comes into the race nicely, the leader in the standings has not had a good start but does not panic for a moment. He works his way forward and after passing Edberg, De Wolf is brought back in two laps. It will be an exciting final lap and a mistake causes De Wolf to lose the lead. Benistart strikes at the right time and wins! He is doing well in the title battle because Isak Gifting does not get further than tenth place. There are no points for Twan van Essen (21st), Kjeld Stuurman (24th) and Twan Wagenaar (27th). Unfortunately, Koen Gouwenberg does not reach the finish.
