Maurice Chanton numbs the pain!
After a five-month break, the European 250cc Championship has continued in Latvia. The second, third and fourth races of this championship will be held on the sand circuit of Kegums. Unfortunately, Maurice Chanton did not emerge unscathed from the 'corona stop' because he injured his knee. Intensive work has been done recently on his rehabilitation, which is why he has now returned to action. The Swiss managed to qualify, but unfortunately crashes threw a spanner in the works. The victory went to Frenchman Thibault Benistant who is also the new leader in the championship.
EMX250:
During training on Saturday morning, Maurice managed to qualify for the competitions later in the day. Due to the corona virus, both competitions will be held on the same day. So it's a busy day for the CreyMert Racing Team. The start of the first moto is good, but he needs to slow down a bit to get a better start in the first corner. The KTM rider starts the race in 30th place over 25 minutes and two laps. Moments later things go wrong, resulting in a fall. This drops the FXR-clad dirt bike back to 37th place. He then manages to come back to 34th place, but points are no longer achievable.
Unfortunately, the second heat doesn't start much better for the 19-year-old rider. The start is good, but a crash in the first lap causes a lot of time loss. The match continues, but again there are no points. The rider from Luterbach fights off the pain, but his efforts are not rewarded.
