Technology: the Motion Pro Cable Luber!
The cables of your brakes, clutch and throttle cable occasionally need lubricant to ensure smooth operation. There are small tools commercially available for this purpose. The most well-known is the rectangular block where you clamp the cable and inject lubricant through the cable through a small opening. Every motocross rider knows the problem: the lubricant sprays in all directions but rarely into the cable. That problem is now definitively solved with the Motion Pro Cable Luber.
The principle of Motion Pro is the same, but with this system the cable is inserted into a closed housing so that the lubricant cannot go in any other direction than into the cable. In addition, the housing of this cable lubricator serves as a small reservoir. After you have introduced a quantity of lubricant, you can use the pump to press the liquid through the cable. MXMag got their hands on the system a few weeks ago for testing and it really works. It does not leak and the lubricant runs where it should, in the cable. We are very enthusiastic about this tool and it is nothing compared to the conventional cable lubrication systems that everyone has in their toolbox.
It is best to disassemble the cable to be lubricated. This prevents dirt from the cable from ending up in your carburetor, for example. It is also best to disassemble clutch cables to prevent the gunk from ending up in the space of your ignition mechanism on certain dirt bikes. The Motion Pro Cable Luber V3, as the tool is officially called, is distributed by Parts Europe and can therefore be ordered from most motocross dealers. The price is around €30.
