Yamaha Motor Europe will support e-bike systems from European bicycle brands
Yamaha is the inventor of the electrically assisted bicycle (EPAC) and is a major player in the global and rapidly growing electric bicycle market. Yamaha's e-Bike Systems branch produces and supplies e-bike systems to a number of the leading bicycle manufacturers (including Lapierre, Haibike, Giant and Raymon) and has shown impressive growth figures in recent years, in particular strong growth in Europe.
From July 1, 2020, Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. will take over responsibility for the distribution of OEM [Original Equipment Manufacture] systems for e-bikes in the growing European market. This allows Yamaha Motor to provide better support for its OEM partners in a central location, from its European headquarters in Schiphol-Rijk, the Netherlands.
As of July 2020, Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. will serve all of the brand's OEM customers in Europe. It will introduce upgrades to e-Bike Systems' entire European supply chain, including sales and marketing, planning and ordering, spare parts supply and improved overall service.
Kazuhiro Murata, Executive GM Smart Power Vehicles, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd: “Yamaha Motor is strengthening our business base by localizing our marketing activities in the Netherlands and strengthening our support for OEM customers. Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. has a long business experience in the European market with Mr. Eric de Seynes as CEO. The company is now responsible for selling OEM drive units for e-bikes and reflects Yamaha's overall potential. We are convinced that this change will contribute to the further development of the e-bike segment.”
Eric de Seynes, President, CEO of Yamaha Motor Europe: “We are pleased to take on the responsibility of our OEM e-Bike System business and thank the Yamaha Motor Company for their confidence in us to further develop this activity in Europe. There are two reasons for our enthusiasm. The first is related to the rapid and spectacular development of the e-bike segment in Europe, which brings very strong growth potential for Yamaha Motor Europe. The second is our commitment to accelerate the number of OEM partnerships with key players in the mobility world in Europe. Yamaha is the pioneer of this EPAC technology and we are confident we can expand our brand's reputation in this area and support the future successes of our key partners.”
