Video: Tom Vialle goes fast!
Frenchman Tom Vialle is only in his second year in the Grand Prix and already leads the MX2 World Championship by five points ahead of Jago Geerts. He is – from the looks of it – already up to speed and ready to race with the aim of a first world title.
Tom's father, former Grand Prix racer Frederic, told us that the intention was to go for the world title this year. “But the championship is not easy because there are many good riders with years of experience. We stay focused on what we do” says Frederic Vialle. On how Tom got the coveted spot at KTM, Frederic revealed that he had some competition for the seat and that he rode a stock Husqvarna in his only year in EMX2 before he got the call to go to the KTM factory!
Frederic Vialle"Tom was in competition with several riders for the seat. He tested the bike and it was the fastest during the test. So Joel Smets was right to pick him. It wasn't that simple, but I understand the reaction. It's also important to remember that Tom rode a standard Husqvarna, winning a series and a podium finish in the EMX250 class. I was convinced that with the Factory Red Bull KTM bike and a strong team like this, Tom would achieve good results. He proved a lot of people wrong and he impressed me every day with his drive and his commitment".
Watch here how fast he goes on the circuit in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.
