The 34th Coyote Superbiker of Mettet has been cancelled!
But an 'open Supermoto' competition will be organized on the permanent circuit at the end of the season
In consultation with the city of Mettet, the non-profit organization RUMESM, the organizer of the Coyote Superbiker, has decided to cancel the 2020 edition, which would normally take place on October 9, 10 and 11 at the Circuit Jules Tacheny. This is in view of the many uncertainties about the organizational measures to be taken to guarantee the health situation of everyone. The RUMESM, on the other hand, announces that it will organize a SUPERMOTO event on the route of the new Circuit Jules Tacheny.
THE CANCELLATION COULD NOT BE AVOIDED GIVEN THE UNCERTAINTIES SURROUNDING THE HEALTH MEASURES
Belgium – and the whole world in general – has found itself in an extraordinary situation due to the COVID-19 crisis. Today, the organizers of the Coyote Superbiker are still in the dark about the measures to be taken to guarantee the health of the public (30.000 people every year), the drivers, the members and the volunteers of the organization.
That is why the decision has been made to postpone the Coyote Superbiker that would take place on October 9, 10 and 11 at the Circuit Jules Tacheny in Mettet. cancel.
Freddy Tacheny, president of the RUMESM (Royal Union Motor de l'Entre-Sambre-Et-Meuse) explains: “It is a historic and painful decision for our event, which has existed for 33 years: there will be no Coyote Superbiker this year . It is with great regret that we have to cancel it. After all, we are passionate volunteers and the Coyote Superbiker is our passion and our life. It is not an easy event to organize. Organizing an event of that nature behind closed doors is not feasible because then the Coyote Superbiker is no longer a Coyote Superbiker. For us it is a real disaster, both rationally and emotionally. After the cancellation of Bihr Bikersland, Classic Wheels, now also the Coyote Superbiker and the long-term closure of our permanent circuit, our non-profit organization is under heavy financial pressure.”
THE CREATION OF A FESTIVE EVENT ON THE NEW ROUTE
However, for the RUMESM there is no question of a lost year. The non-profit organization announces the creation of a new competition (SUPERMOTO OPEN) that allows better control of health measures. The date has yet to be determined, but it will fall in the fall.
The RUMESM would like to thank the volunteers, the sponsors, the city of Mettet, and also to the fans and everyone who supports the Coyote Superbiker. Appointment in 2021 for a next edition!
