PRODUCT: Giant Rev Pro MIPS helmet
The MIPS system - which provides protection against rotating impact forces - is also well established in the cycling world. Giant's latest high performance helmet for racing, gravel and XC uses MIPS. Meet the versatile, lightweight Giant Rev Pro MIPS bicycle helmet.
Optimal ventilation, integrated MIPS protection and aero shape, suitable for road cyclists, gravel bikers, cyclocrossers and XC riders. The Rev Pro MIPS is literally and figuratively at home in many markets.
The helmet combines new, groundbreaking technologies with design elements that are reflected in the Rev and Pursuit aero, two award-winning models. With all the specs, the Rev Pro MIPS is particularly suitable for competitive riders who are looking for one helmet for a wide range of uses. The completely new design offers more ventilation, weight savings, comfort and safety thanks to the integrated Cinch Pro MIPS Fit system.
Versatile and efficient
The Rev Pro MIPS is designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Thanks to the aerodynamic shape, riders cut through the wind. The twenty wide ventilation openings ensure internal air flow and therefore comfort. Prototypes were developed and tested last year, also in competitions. Professional riders from CCC Team (UCI WorldTour), including greg van avermaet, provided valuable feedback. This made the final design even better. Also Rheto Indergand (Giant Factory Off-Road Team) is a big fan of the Giant Rev Pro MIPS helmet.
“The Rev helmet was a favorite of our professional users. We started with that design as a basis,” says Jeff Schneider, head of Giant Gear Business and Marketing. “Our goal was to create something that is even lighter and more comfortable during longer workouts and improves aero performance. The end result is an extremely versatile helmet that can be used for many disciplines and under a variety of conditions. The extra ventilation provides cooling during longer climbs on hot days and the aerodynamic design offers an advantage when you give everything in sprints and breakaways.”
The MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection) Low Friction is a low-friction layer between the outer shell and lining. It can move freely and distributes the rotational forces released during a fall, so that the energy is not fixed in one place on the head. This advanced fall protection is integrated into the adjustable Cinch Pro Fit system. This involves a band around the head that evenly distributes pressure for comfort and stability. The adjustment system offers five positions and is built into the EPS foam layer.
Underneath the thin polycarbonate helmet shell is multi-density EPS foam. This way, the helmet retains its shape better in the event of a fall and absorbs the energy of the impact at both low and high speeds. The Element Strap System (ESS) features ultra-thin, single-layer LiteForm straps that are easily adjustable. The padding is made of antimicrobial TransTextura. This natural substance promotes moisture drainage and helps riders stay cool and dry.
