Jago Geerts about his day in Dalecin
Jago Geerts (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2) was stuck in ninth place (2+DNF) in Dalecin, Czech Republic, where he rode his first race since the outbreak of the corona crisis. The Balenian saw a possible day's victory go up in smoke due to a mechanical problem in the second series.
Geerts did not get off to a good start in the first series, but finished third after one lap. However, the Belgian struggled to find his rhythm and then bit his teeth on Längenfelder for eight laps. Once he caught the German, Vialle was already flying to the front.
Geerts entered the first corner in fourth place in the second series, but now needed significantly less time to advance to second place. Jago did not act hastily and moved closer to leader Vialle. Three laps from the end - just as he wanted to launch his attack on the Frenchman - Geerts was stopped by a mechanical problem. So DNF. No day victory or second place, but a ninth place in the final standings.
Jago will now stay in the Czech Republic all week, where he will train for two days at two different circuits and will also attend the second race of the Czech Championship in Kaplice next weekend.
