Eli Tomac finishes the job!
It took a while but Eli Tomac wins the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 450SX. The Kawasaki rider has been close to the title for years, but time and again he has not been able to finish. This year the pieces of the puzzle fell into place, even though it seemed that the coronavirus would throw a spanner in the works. Fortunately, that did not happen and after five years Kawasaki has the title back in their possession. The last game of the season in Salt Lake City was won by Zach Osborne!
In the final, Dean Wilson gets the best start ahead of teammates Osborne and Anderson. Ken Roczen joins the battle between the Husqvarna riders, but the German makes a mistake that causes him to fall. Wilson is allowed to hold the lead for more than five minutes, but then Anderson comes along. He has Osborne behind him and the 2018 champion wants to end the season in style. For a moment Osborne seems to resist, but later Anderson distances himself! Then Anderson runs into a problem and loses his saddle! With a minute to go, Osborne is the leader and the 30-year-old American wins his first 450SX race. Anderson crosses the finish line in second place ahead of Wilson, completing Husqvarna's success! Malcolm Stewart finishes fourth ahead of Tomac who takes the title. Roczen finished seventh ahead of Cooper Webb, who finished second in the final standings ahead of the German.
