From July 1, motor sports competitions are allowed in the Netherlands
Good news from the Dutch government because motor sports competitions will be allowed again in the Netherlands from July 1. A big step forward after club matches were previously allowed! Earlier this month, the KNMV, supported by NOC*NSF, submitted a protocol to the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
Motorsport naturally belongs to the group where the risk of spreading the corona virus is very small. The sport is always practiced outside and almost always individually and with a wide distance from each other! This protocol has now been approved by the ministry and the government. And so competitions can be organized from July 1!
What now?
NOC*NSF is following a new sports generic protocol (for all sports). The KNMV is also working on a sport-specific protocol (motorsport only). This new sport-specific protocol will not differ much from the current one. However, the requirement that a participant must live within a radius of twenty kilometers of the circuit of a (club) race will be abolished. The number of permitted supervisors per rider will also be increased to three. The sport-generic and sport-specific protocols will be published on June 30. The new competition calendars will also be published for almost all branches of motorsport in the Netherlands.
