MotoGP star Andrea Dovizioso starts in MX race Faenza
Ducati MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso is a self-confessed motocross fan. Dovi started his motorsport career in cross country and now regularly trains with a cross bike. The vice world champion has previously competed in charity races but will start in a real motocross competition next Sunday. The race on the famous Faenza track counts towards the regional championship of Emilia Romagna.
It is the most normal thing in the world for MotoGP riders to train on a dirt bike. The fact that they are participating in a real competition is quite unique. Especially because every competition now carries with it the risk of injuries. MotoGP grandmaster Marc Marquez previously participated in a race for the Catalan championship and now it is Dovizioso's turn.
Op Moto.it stated Ducati team manager Paolo ciabatti about this: “He was given permission for two considerations. The first is because we respect how much this means to him. Secondly, we break the rule taking into account the situation. Dovi has not competed since November 2019, we realize that a race can do good. A competition can give the driver that feeling back, that adrenaline that you only feel in a race.”
