MCLB pilot in the spotlight: Xim Wynant
The MCLB 'Pilot in the spotlight' in these Corona times is the young Xim Wynant from the Eiland district in Sint-Lievens-Houtem. Xim is the son of Filip Wynant and Nathalie D'Haese (+) and is a member of the Mx-Team Dirk Hofman Motorhomes. He rides a 125cc KTM with the Beloften with number 36. Xim is Aaron's older brother who competes in the VJMO.
We let Xim tell his motocross story: “I started motocross with a pit bike that I received for my seventh birthday. One day a friend of my father took us to see his son who rode for the VJMO at the time, this was Olivier Buyst, best known. I soon longed to try that too, and Olivier Buyst's father soon gave us a motorcycle, namely a KTM 65 SX semi-automatic. I rode my first race when I was eight years old and competed in the Initiation group, which was mid-July 2013. Since then I have been present at all races and from 2015 my brother also started at VJMO.
I rode all series at the Initiation and the higher categories. I became vice-champion in the Juniors 85cc and last year, in the 2019 season, I started in the Aspirants with 125cc. I contested four matches there and won all series, and then immediately switched to the Beloften MCLB, where I reached the podium eight more times. Last season I also became Champion of East Flanders with the Beloften and vice-Autumn Champion with equal points.
In normal circumstances we try to ride the motorcycle every week as training, but it is not always possible. I don't think there will be much of a championship this season due to the circumstances, but I'll just have to look forward to next season where my goal is certainly to finish in the top three.
My other hobby is riding the BMX, and I now do it regularly. My big thanks especially go to Anja, and a big thank you also to my dad who always makes all weekends available for us so that we can practice our beloved sport. Anja who always prepares healthy food for us and provides clean motocross gear.
Also a big thank you to Dirk and Annick Hofman for allowing me to be part of this super team. Thank you 1000 times for the support and friendship! Also thanks to the weekly supporters and certainly not to forget Patrick who always gets my bike in top condition. And now let's hope that we can start again soon!!!”
