What should happen next with the French GP in St Jean d'Angely?
The MXGP of France, initially scheduled for May 9-10, 2020, has been officially postponed to June 27-28. This was the result of the measures taken in the fight against the coronavirus. However, the announcement of French President Emmanuel Macron last night also draws a line through the new date of the French MXGP round.
On the one hand, Macron talked about the lockdown in France until May 11. On the other hand, he also indicated that mass events are not possible before mid-July. This means that the Moto Club Angérien, the local organizer of the French GP, has to look for a new date.
Although the club is open to a later date, the options regarding free weekends are very limited. According to the current calendar, only: August 30, September 27, October 4, October 25, November 15 (or after...) are possible. This French measure obviously also casts a shadow over the World Cup matches before those of France. There is therefore a good chance that the GPs of Russia, Latvia and the two already postponed World Cup rounds in Italy will not be able to take place.
A striking detail that our French colleagues from Dailymotocross picked up from yesterday's speech is the closing of the external borders of the Schengen zone, which September is mentioned. If such a measure is also adopted in other countries, it could also hinder other organizations.
