WILVO-Yamaha-MXGP trio about their British GP!
From this season onwards, Louis Vosters will run the Yamaha factory team in the FIM MXGP World Championship. The Bergeijk team has three drivers, Jeremy Seewer (photo), Arnaud Tonus and Gautier Paulin. The trio looks back on their first Grand Prix of the season.
Jeremy Seewer: ''It was a strange weekend due to the timetable which meant we spent very little time on track but this was the same for everyone. I started with a great holeshot and had an engine length lead on the starting field, which was really nice. I finished second, which is a very nice start to the championship. This was also proof that we did a good job during the winter period. In the second moto I came into contact with another rider and damaged my brake. This meant I had to drive without brakes and this was not easy on a track like this. I still scored well and my speed was good. It is a pity that I was not allowed to take a seat on the podium. We will continue to work hard and come back strong next weekend.”
Gautier Paulin: ''I felt good all weekend, but it was a strange weekend. Riding a new bike, on a treacherous track like this, where we had little time to explore and with variable weather conditions, was not easy. In the first moto I had a crooked start and after that it was difficult to get back to the front through the field. I crashed but still managed to come back to seventh place. In the second heat I quickly got into fourth place, but I had a lot of trouble with the low sun. I also didn't want to take my laminates off the glasses because I didn't know if it would rain. I am very happy with the team and everyone is working very hard. The feeling is good and the season is long.”
Arnaud Tonus: ''It was a difficult weekend for me. I also expected it a bit because I haven't been able to ride for a while due to a thumb injury. It was also not certain whether I would be able to drive and that is why I am happy that I was able to participate. I felt good on the track but I had bad starts and then I didn't have the speed to get to the front. In addition, I also had a lot of trouble with my thumb, but from here I will recover and then we will come back next weekend."
