Haarup and Boisrame score a top ten ranking
A week after the British Grand Prix, the FIM MXGP-MX2 World Championship visited the Netherlands. The home GP for the F&H Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team and expectations were high. The day went well on Saturday, but on Sunday afternoon the unlucky one rode with the Kawasaki riders. Mikkel Haarup and Mathys Boisrame managed to achieve a top ten ranking at least once more. Roan van de Moosdijk only scores in the first round with a twelfth place. The victory goes to Tom Vialle and he is also the new leader in the standings.
1st Round
Around noon it starts to rain in Valkenswaard and that certainly does not benefit the already difficult circuit. When the starting gate goes down, 38 riders sprint to the first corner and you see some people thinking 'if only that goes well!'. Unfortunately, things don't go well and many riders crash, including Mathys! He hurt his knee and said he can leave the circuit under his own power. Roan started the race around tenth place, followed by Mikkel. The Eindhoven native feels supported by many supporters and he enters the match better. After twenty minutes, Roan takes over sixth place from Conrad Mewse. The fifth man, Watson, is in sight, but then things unfortunately go wrong! The reigning EMX250 champion hurt his ankle but full of adrenaline he continues. Due to the severe pain in his ankle, riders pass by, including teammate Mikkel. He can briefly take eighth place, but Vaessen has a better final sprint and he comes eighth ahead of the friendly Dane. Roan crosses the finish line in twelfth place, which puts him well in the points. However, it is clear that he is in a lot of pain, so he immediately visits the hospital in Belgium, where it is discovered that he has a crack in his ankle. A few hours later he immediately underwent surgery to speed up his recovery.
2st Round
Unfortunately, Roan will no longer be in action in the second round. Mikkel gets off to a good start, but at the exit of the first corner third man Geerts makes a mistake. Mikkel is also involved in this crash and unfortunately has to leave the race. Fortunately, Mathys is able to slip past and he starts the race over 30 minutes and two laps in the top five. In the first round, the Leatt-clad rider manages to work his way to fourth place and ends up in second place after almost ten minutes of racing. The Frenchman managed to hold this position for the first half of the race, but then he made a mistake and fell, causing him to fall back. Fortunately, the competitions can be continued and with a tenth place, Mathys can still add eleven points to his total under these tough circumstances.
The entire team and Kawasaki wish Roan van de Moosdijk a speedy recovery!
