Garrett Marchbanks surprises at Daytona!
Garrett Marchbanks pulled off a big surprise at the Daytona International Speedway. The Kawasaki rider has won round four of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 250SX East Coast! It is the first victory for the Team Pro Circuit-Kawasaki rider who was followed by Team Geico rider Chase Sexton and Jeremy Martin. With fifth place Shane Mcelrath loses again to Sexton who now has a ten point lead in the title fight.
A very good start for Team Pro Circuit as Marchbanks takes the lead ahead of Jordon Smith. In the first lap Mcelrath takes second place from Smith, but he immediately hits back. Both riders crash and Smith disappears from the race. Mcelrath drops back to eleventh place and therefore has to work his way to the front. At the front, 18-year-old Marchbanks has the lead and he will not relinquish it. Sexton follows at an appropriate distance, but the reigning champion cannot make a fist against the Kawasaki rider in the lead. Sexton finishes second and thus scores important points in the title battle. Martin manages to take over third place from RJ Hampshire in the second half of the race. The Husqvarna rider is fourth ahead of Mcelrath.
