Coronavirus: where can you still train?
The outbreak of the coronavirus has created an unprecedented situation where no competitions will be held anywhere in the coming weeks. Most governments have imposed a ban on participating in sporting activities, both indoor and outdoor. But what about the training? Where can you train with a motorcycle and where not? We learned from the circuit operators.
As might be expected, there is uncertainty about individual motorcycle training on a cross track. Is it banned by the government or are there local exceptions? And what about in the surrounding countries? We outline the situation as it is today, with the realization that it could be different again within a few days. MXMag will publish an update whenever the situation changes.
Belgium
- Lommel closed until April 3
- Lille closed March 14 and 15. New evaluation with the municipality next week
- Genk is in principle closed until April 3, but exceptional measures are being considered
- Olmen closed until April 3
- Hélécine closed anyway because it was too wet
- Komen-Ten-Briele closed until April 3
The Netherlands
- The KNMV has advised all clubs not to open for training
- This advice appears to be well followed by the clubs
France
- The French government bans activities with gatherings of more than 100 people. The FFM follows this rule and cancels all motorsport competitions in France. It is not very clear what this means for individual training. When this message went to press, we learned that training was taking place at the Loon Plage circuit in Dunkirk, but that the police closed the circuit in the early afternoon. For the situation in France, it is best to look at the site of the French motorsport association FFM.
Germany
- The website of the circuit in Grevenbroich states that their training will not take place this weekend. The situation on the other circuits is unknown. More information will come in the coming days.
