Chase Sexton alone in the lead after victory!
At Mercedes-Banez Stadium, Chase Sexton won the third event of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship EastCoast 250SX. The reigning champion managed to take the win ahead of former teammate Rj Hampshire and Shane Mcelrath finished third. Jo Shimoda's fifth place was very striking, while his teammate Jeremy Martin could not go further than nineteenth place. After this match in Atlanta, Sexton is the only leader in the standings at five points, followed by McElrath.
In the final over 15 minutes and a lap, Hampshire gets the best start ahead of Sexton, Shimoda and McElrath. The Yamaha rider quickly manages to pass Shimoda and a little later even passes Sexton! It doesn't last long because Sexton comes back quickly and then immediately joins the leader! It then takes until halfway through the race before the Honda rider can take the lead. He then distances himself and takes his second victory of the season. Hampshire wins the battle with McElrath for second place and the Star Racing rider completes the podium. Jordon Smith finishes fourth after Martin crashes hard! With five minutes left on the clock, Hampshire briefly goes off track, causing a 'tuff block' to form on the circuit and Martin falls over it! The Japanese Shimoda completes the top five.
