BREAKING: No Dutch Masters of MX in 2020!
Drastic times call for drastic measures. The KNMV has just announced that the 2020 Dutch Masters of Motocross will not take place. It was a big decision for the KNMV and partners to make, but the impact of the corona crisis makes continuing this season impossible.
The associations were ready, an impressive field full of world top players was going to start, but unfortunately. Due to the measures against the coronavirus, the curtain fell last week for the opening round in Harfsen on March 29. In addition, we are dealing with shifts in the World Cup calendar. This already canceled the Dutch Masters final for the 250cc and 500cc during the Zwarte Cross. Other 'free' weekends are also filling up quickly. That makes rescheduling race days difficult, if not impossible. In short: there is no longer a possibility to hold a full-fledged Dutch Masters of Motocross competition in 2020.
Moreover, there are more important issues in society at the moment than motocross. The health and safety of riders, teams, fans and all volunteers at the organizing associations come first. This is a bitter pill to swallow, not only for the KNMV, but especially for the organizing associations MC Hamac Harfsen, Stichting Circuit Oldebroek, MACRO Rhenen and MACL/Zwarte Cross and all their volunteers. They would have liked to make it a great season together with the riders, teams, sponsors and you, the fans.
That should now happen in 2021. Because thanks to the support of main sponsors Jumbo and Red Bull, we can advance in the competition! In the meantime, the KNMV is examining whether it is possible to add a number of regular ONK competitions to the 2020 motocross calendar. We are also working on a different interpretation of the cross program on Friday (July 17) and Sunday (July 19) of the Zwarte Cross.
