Boegh Damm takes two victories in Valkenswaard
The first race of the European 250cc Championship was won by Bastian Boegh Damm. The WZ Racing rider managed to take victory in both heats. During the first moto he was unbeatable, but Kay de Wolf managed to cross the finish line in the second moto as before. However, the Husqvarna rider is penalized for ignoring the yellow flag, which means he is classified eleventh. Isak Gifting (2-9) finishes second on the Eurocircuit ahead of Andrea Adamo (8-3)! Liam Everts is the best Laaglander, the KTM rider occupies sixth place in the standings.
De Wolf gets the best start in the first round, but Boeg-Damm quickly takes over the lead to control the race. Gifting comes in second ahead of Jorgen-Matthias Talviku by a wide margin! The Estonian makes his debut in this class and he makes an immediate impression. De Wolf also does this by finishing fourth ahead of Lion Florian who, like the winner, also competes for WZ Racing. Everts finished sixth, Marcel Conijn crossed the finish line thirteenth ahead of Raf Meuwissen! Rick Elzinga, Kjeld Stuurman and Jarni Kooij do not score.
The crowd comes alive when De Wolf comes out of the first corner as the leader during the second heat. The Eersel resident takes the lead ahead of Adamo and Talviku. Boegh Damm just started in the top ten and worked his way to second place in 15 minutes. Then leader De Wolf has disappeared from view and the Dane doesn't really try either. In retrospect it was the right choice because with second place the Dane wins the day's rankings. Later, De Wolf loses the victory and it is 18-year-old Boegh Damm who takes the full 50 points. Everts now crosses the finish line in sixth place, Conijn finishes eighth and Meuwissen scores again with fifteenth place. Elzinga, Stuurman and Kooij also do not score in this round.
This championship will not continue until April 25-26, when the Grand Prix of Portugal will be held.
