Avrie Berry straight into the points!
Last week Avrie Berry had to miss the match in England, but she was there in Valkenswaard! During the second race of the FIM WMX World Championship, the CreyMert Racing rider immediately managed to score four points. Avrie finished seventeenth in the first heat, but unfortunately did not finish the second heat. The GP was won by Larissa Papenmeier, Courtney Duncan remains the leader in the standings. Unfortunately, Maurice Chanton was unable to qualify in the EMX250, the Dane Bastiaan Boegh Damm is the first winner.
WMX:
Due to a lot of precipitation, the circuit is particularly difficult and that makes it difficult for Avrie to get into her rhythm. The American is not satisfied with a 30th qualifying time, but points are certainly achievable. With that in mind she entered the first heat and with success! The start is reasonable and from 25th place she works her way up to twentieth place in the first full lap! Riding is now clearly better than in qualifying and within two laps the KTM rider manages to work her way up to sixteenth place. She manages to hold this position for fifteen minutes. Due to a small mistake, the FXR-clad lady drops back to nineteenth place, but due to a strong final sprint she is still seventeenth.
The second heat starts in the back field, but Avrie is unable to work his way forward after a crash. A second fall makes it even more difficult and when she falls a third time the match is over. The motorcycle leans against a slope and she is unable to get the motorcycle back on two wheels. No outside help is allowed and unfortunately the match is over after ten minutes.
EMX250:
There is always a special tension at the first match of the season and that was also the case in Valkenswaard. It was a major setback for Maurice because he failed to qualify!
Next game:
In two weeks the KNMV Open Dutch Women's Championship will start for Avrie at the Heerde circuit. A week later, Hakon and Maurice will be in action during the first KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross at the Harfsen circuit.
