Wrist surgery for Thomas-Kjer Olsen
Ex-EMX250 champion Thomas-Kjer Olsen (22) has been a title contender in the MX2 World Championship for several years. It looked like 2020 would be his best chance after the promotion of world champion Jorge Prado. That was until he suffered a wrist injury in Spain during his preparation.
TKO was at the start of the season opener in Matterley Basin with a minimum of hours of motorcycle training. Nevertheless, the Dane managed to limit the damage nicely in the first two GPs. Thomas is currently seventh in the MX2 World Championship and reached the top 5 in the second round in Great Britain.
Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, Infront Moto Racing was forced to postpone a number of competitions. As a result, the World Cup would not resume until mid-May at the earliest. That break comes at a good time for Olsen. Together with the team, he decided to undergo a restorative procedure on the wrist. When the GPs start again, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider should be fit again.
“Thomas (Kjer Olsen) went under the knife this morning for minor surgery on the wrist. So the current situation is not that bad for him,” said Negaan Husqvarna MX2 team manager Rasmus Jorgensen exclusively to our colleagues from GateDrop.com.
