Nathan Renkens: “Good feeling for England!”
There is a somewhat surprising name on the MX2 entry list of the British GP. Nathan Renkens (21) is returning to the quarter liters this season. The N83 driver showed off his calling card last weekend with a win in the Belgian season opener in Lommel.
Despite the special circumstances, Renkens clearly left a good impression on the Heeserbergen. Confirmation for Nathan that the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. Nathan Renkens: “I trained hard last winter, I also think I have digested the switch to MX2 well. Of course, that includes a slightly more aggressive style. That is starting to happen, although the GPs are the only real indication that counts. Okay, Lommel was special because of the mud, but the feeling was certainly positive. And in preparation for Matterley Basin it was also correct!”
Although Renkens had first set his sights on a European campaign, the KTM Belgium rider has now opted for the full World Championship, including the overseas competitions. This makes Nathan, together with Jago Geerts, the only Belgian who goes for the complete World Championship MX2 cycle. “It will certainly be a big challenge, but as a team we are ready for it. We work as professionally as possible in every area and we really want to show ourselves this year,” says Renkens.
“We work together with a highly skilled specialist for tuning the engine, we have the experienced Hugo America as a trainer and we have done our homework with the other technical partners. The KTM SX-F250 is certainly the reference in the MX2, and we have also put together a strong package with Sölva suspension, HGS exhausts, Dunlop, Motul oil, VHM, Twin Air, Goldfren and NG Brake Discs. I am very satisfied with the engine, and we still have room for growth!” Nathan decides.
NR83 can also count on support from LS2 Helmets, KW Racewear and Forma boots.
