Soubeyras and Hsu win the first evening in Dortmund
The first showdown in Europe has been the Dortmund Supercross for many years. The first day of competition of this 37th edition was won by Cedric Soubeyras (SX1) and Brian Hsu (SX2)! On the Team Twenty Suspenion-Husqvarna, 'Soubs' won ahead of his teammate and compatriot Thomas Ramette. Third place went to American Tyler Bowers. Unfortunately, we saw neither Dutch nor Belgians qualify for the finals.
SX1:
From the outside, Filip Neugebauer makes a great start and the Czech takes the lead ahead of Ramette and Alessi. The Frenchman manages to pass the quick starter, but Alessi also succeeds and he starts the attack. Alessi comes out of the first round as leader ahead of Ramette and Neugebauer. The leader in the standings did not have a good start, Ryan Breece came out of the first round in twelfth position. After eight laps, Ramette attacks the leader and is successful. He has to because Soubeyras comes in and he also easily passes Alessi. After three rounds of fighting, Ramette has to take a knee and Soubeyras takes over the lead. In the final phase there is a crash, causing the race management to wave the red flag early. Ramatte still has the connection, but attacking is not an option. Bowers comes third ahead of compatriot Alessi and Jordi Tixier comes in fifth. Breece crosses the finish line in seventh place, he remains the leader in the standings with tomorrow still on the agenda!
SX2:
In the qualifying race, Hsu crashes in the first corner. The Husqvarna rider comes back strong and manages to qualify for the final with a fourth place. In that final, the former Suzuki factory rider had no doubts about it for a long time. Julien Roussaly takes the best start but Hsu immediately takes the lead. He breaks free from his pursuers without much problem, but Joey Crown has other plans. In the second half of the race he closes the gap by more than four seconds! In the last round the American starts the attack, but he falls. Hsu wins for Crown and his Sturm Racing colleague Anthony Bourdon, who manages to pass his compatriot Roussaly on the last lap. Jeroen Bussink was unable to qualify for the final this time.
