Justin Cooper records his first Supercross victory
Justin Cooper took his first Supercross victory at Anaheim's Angel Stadium. The Yamaha rider was followed by teammate Dylan Ferrnandis! Third place went to Austin Forkner who had been in the lead but he made a mistake! Christian Craig finished fourth ahead of Michael Mosiman, with ninth place Jett Lawrence can look back on a very strong debut!
With the Pro Circuit Kawasaki, Forkner gets the best start ahead of Cooper and Craig. Cooper immediately attacks and takes the lead, but Forkner quickly comes back and takes a 1,5 second lead. This difference between the duo in the lead remains the same for the first half of the match.
Then Cooper gets to the rear wheel of the leader and at that moment Ferrandis moves into third place at the expense of Craig. The Frenchman is already more than six seconds behind the leader, who then breaks away from Cooper. Then with 3 minutes to go Forkner hits the tuff blocks and Cooper takes the lead.
Ferrandis also passes Forkner who comes back onto the track after his mistake on the wrong track. The Kawasaki rider is third behind Star Racing riders Cooper and Ferrandis. After a particularly tough year, Craig makes a strong comeback with fourth place ahead of Mosiman, who had to qualify through the last chance.
