Take 5; Levi Scare
The 2019 season is over and that means looking back but also looking forward! In this Take 5 we speak with Levi Schrik. The Brabander has completed his first season with the 85cc Grote Wielen and he talks about the switch to KTM!
MXMag: In 2017 you were active in the 65cc Small Wheels, in 2018 you switched to the 85cc Small Wheels and this season you were active in the 85cc Large Wheels. So a lot has happened in recent seasons. How do you look back on this?
LS: “A lot has happened, but I certainly look back with satisfaction! In 2017 I won the ONK 65cc Kleine Wielen, after which I switched to the 85cc Kleine Wielen and immediately came third. This season at the 85cc Grote Wielen did not go as well because I broke my wrist during the first EMX85 in Velke Uherce and therefore had to miss a number of races. I managed to finish fourteenth in the ONK.”
MXMag: You also took action during the Motocross of Nations in Assen. You came second during the YZ Blue Cru Superfinal 85cc. Tell us about that weekend at the famous TT Circuit.
LS: “The bLU cRU weekend was really great! Everything was taken care of down to the last detail, but it was a pity that the weather conditions did not cooperate. I will participate in one of the most beautiful races ever in the Netherlands tomorrow. The training went well and I managed to set the fastest time. In the Superfinal, he started third and quickly took the lead. However, I crashed briefly and lost places, but luckily I managed to finish second. I certainly never wanted to miss this experience.”
MXMag: Your performance in Assen allowed you to travel to Spain to participate in the YZ Master Class with Gautier Paulin, Jeremy Seewer and Jacky Vimond. However, you decided to switch to KTM, why?
LS: “After a lot of consultation and careful consideration after Assen, we decided to switch to KTM in 2020. We informed Yamaha immediately and I would like to thank them very much for the invitation.”
MXMag: What does your schedule look like in 2020?
LS: “Most attention is in the Netherlands with the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross and the KNMV Open Dutch Championship. In addition, we ride the EMX85 with the aim of riding the final race in Loket and, if possible, I would like to gain international experience at the ADAC Junior Cup 85cc.”
MXMag: What is your goal for 2020, when will this season be a success?
LS: “We are busy with the preparations and the winter training is currently going well. Another internship is planned in Italy. It would be nice to be in the top five in your own country. Another goal is the EMX final in the Czech Republic, for which I will do my best! With Team MX United and the sponsors we have, this will work out perfectly!”
MXMag: Thank you for this conversation and good luck! We're going to follow you.
LS: Thank you guys.
