KNMV Motocross Calendar 2020: this is what you need to know
Here it is: the KNMV Motocross Calendar for 2020! It took some time because the FIM Europe needed some extra time to present their calendar. Read more about the most important adjustments for 2020 below!
ONK Sidecar & Quad Masters
There are seven ONK Sidecar Masters and eleven ONK Quad Masters competitions in 2020. The opening is early in the year on Sunday, March 1 and will be organized by the HAMC in St. Isidorushoeve, who would like to organize another Sidecar and Quad competition.
No fewer than five ONK Sidecar Masters competitions are planned before the World Championship Sidecar competition starts in Oss on April 18 and 19, enough opportunity for all World Championship teams to optimally prepare through the ONK for the start of the World Championship! Rhenen is on the program on Ascension Day and the grand finale will again be held on the Saturday of the Zwarte Cross festival, on July 18, 2020. The quad riders will compete four more times, in Oss and Lommel as a side program of the Sidecar World Championships and in Geldermalsen and Varsseveld, before they will also ride the grand finale at the Zwarte Cross festival on Saturday, July 18.
ONK Solo Motocross
No 'Open Qualification' on Saturday, March 28 for Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen. The ONK Solo Motocross will also start on Sunday, March 1, when the ONK250cc and ONK500cc will compete in their first race on the 'De Witte Ruysheuvel' circuit in Oss. MC de Wielewaal is back on the calendar this year with an ONK Motocross competition in Reusel on June 28, 2020. Due to various international competitions and the small number of requests from organizers for competitions after the summer break, the majority of the competitions will be organized before the summer break. the ONK250 and ONK500 will therefore have their last competition in Lierop on June 21. The ONK250cc and ONK500cc classes have a total of 10 competitions and this year's prize money schedule will be maintained next season.
It has been decided to use the ONK competitions for the first Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen as a qualification for participation in Harfsen. The reason for this is that it has now become known that other international competitions will also start in the same weekend and it is likely that not so many drivers will register, making it unnecessary to organize an open qualification on Saturday.
Prize money schemes Dutch Masters of Motocross, ONK Sidecar & Quad Masters and ONK250cc & ONK500cc
The prize money schedules for the various KNMV competitions are also known. For the Dutch Masters of Motocross and ONK Sidecar & Quad Masters competitions, a bonus will no longer be paid at the end next season, it has been decided to increase the prize money per round. The schedule for the ONK250cc and ONK500cc remains unchanged compared to 2019.
ONK Women
Next season there will be an ONK Women class within the KNMV competition and to ensure that all top riders can also ride the ONK, it has been decided to take the World Cup and European Championship calendars into account. There are six ONK Women competitions on the calendar next season and we hope that as many women as possible will participate in the competition. To give riders who are not internationally active the opportunity to participate in more than six competitions, they may, in addition to the ONK Women, apply for a second KNMV Motocross Cup license free of charge for the days when the ONK Women does not compete.
Addition of electrically powered ONK Youth Classes
As of the 2020 season, it is possible to participate with electrically powered machines in the ONK Youth Motocross classes (50cc to 85cc). The machine must comply with the technical regulations on all other points. To participate in a specific youth class, an electrically powered machine must always comply with the wheel sizes of the relevant classes.
Cup Veterans & Cup 125cc ride together
Also new to the calendar next season is the Cup Veterans class. It has been decided to have the Cup Veterans ride together with the Cup 125 at the competitions. Given the number of riders per class, this can be held in one group, thus creating more space in the timetable. The Cup Veterans and Cup 125cc have a total of ten competitions.
NK Sidecar and Quad Classes
The NK Sidecar and NK Quads each have eleven matches scheduled, they will kick off on March 15 in Lochem. The National Championship Sidecar is once again scheduled on Saturdays as a side program of the World Championship Sidecar Competitions in Oss and Lommel and the top fifteen can register to participate in the ONK Sidecar Masters in Rhenen on May 21.
The youth classes Quads and Sidecars are on the calendar with nine races on beautiful circuits. That is one more than last season. The expectation is that the youth classes will continue to grow in number of participants and will therefore remain a permanent fixture in the complete KNMV Motocross calendar.
