Beach Race Magesq: No Jeffrey Dewulf, but Yentel Martens
For the third round of the 24MX Championnat de Franse des Sables, the championship heads south. Big news is the forfeit of Jeffrey Dewulf, currently second in the standings. The championship starts again this weekend for the returning Yentel Martens (Dafy Michelin Wonderbike).
There is no way around it: the French beach racing championship has gained a lot of prestige in recent years. The other side of the coin is the rising costs. After all, due to vigorous sporting competition, the material must also follow and trips such as the one to Magesq (approximately 2200 km back and forth from Belgium) are very expensive.
Private driver Jeffrey Dewulf sounded the alarm this week. “It is with great regret that I announce my absence for this weekend, but due to a lack of support we have to focus on Le Touquet instead of the championship.”
Yentel Martens is back, who exchanged the Husqvarna for Honda. For “Y-Mart”, the organization of Bud Racing chef Stéphane Dassé will be his competition debut. It will mainly be a matter of getting back into rhythm for Martens because the competition is not bad. In addition to Nathan Watson, KTM Factory colleague Jonny Walker will also appear at the start, in addition to top performers such as Jeremy Van Horebeek, Todd Kellett, Milko Potisek, Todd Kellet, Daymond Martens, Richard Fura and Camille Chapeliere.
