Standing Construct becomes an official GasGas factory team
Yesterday it was announced that Glenn Coldenhoff will participate in the MXGP competitions for the Spanish brand GasGas next year. This suggested that the Belgian Standing Construct Team would become the official factory team and this was just confirmed by GasGas itself.
After the takeover by KTM, things went quickly for GasGas. The brand that achieved fame with its trials and enduro motorcycles would return to motocross under the wings of the Austrians. The 'Standing Construct GasGas Factory Racing' is the first ever Motocross Grand Prix team for the brand and features the exciting combination of Glenn Coldenhoff and Ivo Monticelli in 2020. Coldenhoff took 3rd position in the 2019 MXGP standings and was impressive in the last two editions of the FIM Motocross of Nations. Monticelli impressed this year as 11the to finish in the MXGP final rankings.
Glenn Coldenhoff: “My team manager called me and told me about the opportunity to ride with GasGas and I was immediately honored. Achieving factory team status is a reward for all their hard work and professionalism. It's really a big step for the team to have a factory behind you with all their support and resources. I'm really looking forward to continuing to work with this great group of people at Standing Construct, and I'm very honored and motivated to represent this new brand in the MXGP class. "
Tim Mathys, Standing Construct GasGas Factory Racing Team Principal: “This is an important new step in the Standing Construct story. 2019 was the best year yet for us: we saw the best career performances from Glenn and Ivo and our employees were able to give them exactly what they needed to achieve these results. We are confident to start this new chapter with GasGas. It is an honor to be the first MXGP team to wear that famous badge and start a new era. I would like to thank the GasGas race management at Pierer Mobility AG for the support. We will change our colour, but not the ambition to stay at the forefront of MXGP. "
Laia Sanz and Taddy Blazusiak will also ride GasGas next year. Laia will start in the Dakar Rally in January 2020, having previously achieved results on the Spanish brand. Taddy will participate in the WESS Enduro World Championship.
