Mitch Evans becomes Tim Gajser's teammate at HRC Honda!
Australian Mitch Evans will compete on an HRC Honda in the MXGP class next year. He will do this alongside reigning world champion Tim Gajser. This announcement was made this morning by the HRC team. The 21-year-old Evans already has enough experience on a 450 to make the switch to MXGP. He will compete on the team's CRF450RW.
Evans also started last year with a Honda in the MX2 class as a rider for Livia Lancelot's Team Honda 114 Motorsports. He was able to score podium places in the GP of Patagonia and Portugal, finishing 11de place in the final standings of the MX2 World Championship. Mitch Evans injured himself halfway through the season, causing him to miss almost a third of the season.
In 2018, as a rookie, he finished second in the Australian MX1 Championship. During the month of November he will move to Milan to prepare together with the HRC Team this winter for the first match of the World Cup on March 1 in Matterley Basin.
Mitch Evans on his new team:
"It is just amazing to sign for Team HRC. The history that this brand has with all the great riders who have ridden Honda's and to now be a part of that, it is unbelievable. This is something that you grow up dreaming about when you first swing your leg over a dirt bike, to be under the HRC awning riding a full-factory CRF450RW. I really can't wait to get started and I am really looking forward to showing people what I can do in the MXGP class. I know it won't be easy because there are a lot of talented people in the class but I've got the best possible teammate with Tim, because he's the world champion and he knows exactly how to go about things. I hope to learn a lot from him and from the team and use all of that to put into my best performances when the season starts. Now though, it's time to knuckle down and put in work so that I can come out swinging in round one."
