Lettenbichler takes WESS title in his own country!
Hard Enduro 'prodigy' Manuel Lettenbichler rode in style today to his first WESS (World Enduro Super Series) title. The German simply had to finish the GetzenRodeo to keep rival Jonny Walker from the title, but 'Letti' did so much more than that. The Red Bull Romaniacs winner put the competition on a lap today! Alfredo Gomez finally took second place at the expense of Walker.
The 21-year-old Lettenbichler has long been regarded as the coming man of hard enduro. As a 16-year-old, Andreas' son became the youngest ever finisher of the world-famous Erzberg Rodeo. However, a major victory was still missing from his list of achievements. The Red Bull KTM rider was not only the most regular this season. With a second place after Maestro Jarvis in the Erzbergo Rodeo, he personifies the changing of the guard. And 10 years after Andreas Lettenbichler's victory in the Red Bull Romaniacs, 'Letti' finally got his big victory.
The loser of the day was Jonny Walker. In the final lap the Briton saw second place in the final standings slip through his hands. For Gomez it was a nice comeback after a problematic 2018 season. Gomez's teammate Billy Bolt had his share of injuries in 2019, but showed that he is coming back to the surface with a fourth place. The surprise of the day was perhaps the relatively unknown Norwegian Ib Andersen. The GasGas rider rode effortlessly to the top 10 among many well-known names!
