Gregoire sees title lost due to unclear regulations
The BMB announced today that the final standings of the Belgian Championship have been adjusted! The BMB Motocross working group noted during its meeting of November 6, 2019 that when the provisional classifications of the Belgian Motocross Championship 2019 were published, only the permit holders for 1 event (and pilots with delegation) were removed from the results in accordance with article 12 of the BMB Motocross regulations 2019. However, article 14.19 also states: “In the context of a collaboration with the associations VLM/JMS and MCLB/VJMO, a selection of competitions from these associations were added to the BMB motocross calendar 2019. These competitions count towards the Belgian Motocross Championship. Only BMB annual motocross permit holders will be entitled to points for the Belgian Championship.”
This means that for the VLM/JMS and MCLB/VJMO competitions registered on the BMB calendar 2019, drivers with a foreign license will not receive any points for the championship! However, this was the case and the submitted final rankings were adjusted, approved and published!
This means that Gregoire misses the title! This news came completely unexpectedly for the Gregoire family and the Youth Pro MX Team, as Dean was included in the championship standings at Mylaps all year long. “The meeting took place after the season and the decision not to award points to foreign license holders was taken at that time. In my opinion, something like this should be included in the regulations before the championship starts and this is not the case. I find it a very annoying issue, not only for Dean but also for all the other international licensees who have fought for the points. I won't leave it at that," says father Michel Gregoire.
