Daymond Martens: it goes up and down but the speed is there
The first two races of the French Sand Championship (CFS) were held in the north of the country. This weekend the sand hares will travel to the south of the country for another confrontation. The battle continues in Magescq, a newcomer to the CFS calendar that will host more than 700 participants this weekend. Among them Daymond Martens, who hopes to confirm with his KTM Team Motoland.
“I'm feeling better and better on the bike. My team does everything they can to make sure everything is the way I want it, we do very well together “, says Daymond Martens. “During the opening race of the season in Berck I was immediately able to prove that I had the speed. But there was good and bad there. The final didn't go the way I wanted. I got stuck and lost a lot of time.
A mixed result to start the season, which thankfully was quickly forgotten with an encouraging sixth place at the Ronde des Sables in Loon. “In Loon, a race with a more classic formula, I was able to drive perfectly during the first hour. But then I lost a lot of time during the first refueling, which meant I lost contact with the top 5. But I had the speed to get in a priori, so it's encouraging “, says the former winner of the Enduropale Le Touquet. “Since Loon we have done a lot of development on the KTM with the team,” adds Martens. “We tried a lot of new parts. We are definitely going in the right direction! "
