Australian duo for Honda 114 Motorsports: Nathan Crawford & Bailey Malkiewicz
Honda 114 Motorsports announced this morning their unreleased line-up for the MX2 World Championship: the Australians Nathan Crawford and Bailey Malkiewicz. Frenchman Axel Louis will defend the colors of Livia Lancelot's team in the EMX250. As previously announced, Mitch Evans was promoted to the HRC Honda factory tram in the MXGP.
Nathan Crawford has had a successful season in his own country. He finished fourth in the Australian MX Nationals and took two series wins in MX2. A final victory in the 8th round underlined his potential and made it clear to 114 Motorsports that Crawford can also hold his own at World Championship level.
Bailey Malkiewicz is also not up to his test piece. The ex-125cc youth world champion of 2018 only made his debut in MX2 this year. In his rookie year in the Australian MX Nationals, Malkiewicz finished seventh. Second place overall was his best result.
The 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship starts on March 1 with the British GP. Axel Louis will start his EMX8 campaign in Valkenswaard, Netherlands, on March 250.
Nathan Crawford: “I am pleased to announce my plans with Honda 114 Motorsports for the 2020 MXGP season. Driving for such an established team in Europe is something I have always worked towards and dreamed of for a long time! When my manager informed me about the opportunity to drive for Honda 114 Motorsports, I believed it was a great combination and the best chance for a successful 2020 campaign.”
Bailey Malkiewicz: “I am very excited about this excellent opportunity to ride for Honda 2020 Motorsports in the MX114 World Championship in 2. My manager, parents and I have worked hard over the past two years to make this possible. I am grateful that Honda 114 Motorsports offers me this opportunity and fully supports me. I believe 2020 will be an excellent start to my MXGP career.”
Axel Louis: “I have been riding for Livia Lancelot for four years now. I was French champion in the 85cc class. This year was my first season on the CRF250R. It is also the first season in which I can train as a professional. It's also great to work with Nathan and Bailey. I will definitely learn a lot from them. I know the EMX250 won't be easy, but I'm ready to work hard. I can't wait for the games to start.”
Livia Lancelot (Team Manager): “As everyone knows, I love the Australian mentality! I am pleased to announce that Nathan Crawford and Bailey Malkiewicz will ride for Honda 2020 Motorsports in 114. They both arrived a week ago and started working straight away. It was their first day on the bike yesterday and I'm happy to finally see them working on the 250 Honda CRF2020R. They are fast and motivated, so we will see what the new MX2 season will bring for them. We will also continue with Axel Louis to support him in the EMX250. That's a big step for him because he's only fifteen. This will be his first year of training hard every day. Eric Sorby will be with us full-time to help take care of the riders. I can't wait for the new season to start.”
