Breece surprises Bowers in the final phase!
The first evening of the ADAC SX Cup in Chemnitz was won by Ryan Breece. The Meyer Yamaha rider managed to displace his compatriot Tyler Bowers from first place in the final phase. The Kawasaki rider crashed and showed himself to be a sore loser after the final. In the Chemnitz Arena, Boris Maillard finished second ahead of fellow countryman Charles Lefrancios. In the SX2, American Robbie Wageman won ahead of fellow countrymen Kevin Moranz and Dare Demartile. The only Laaglander in the final, Jeroen Bussink, finished neatly tenth! Paul Haberland's match did not go well, the leader in the standings did not qualify for the final. The same thing happened to Hakon Frederikson, the Norwegian who won the first evening in Stuttgart had to watch the final from the side!
In the 20-lap final, Bowers gets the best start ahead of Maillard and Breece. Maillard manages to hold his position for the first five laps, but then Breece manages to strike. The American tries to connect with the leader, but he does not seem to succeed. Those laps before the end, Bowers' pace slows down and the leader in the standings joins in. He then attacks at the first opportunity and with success. Bowers leaves the door open and not only loses the lead but also crashes. This drops him back to eighth place! Maillard can regain second place and hold it until the finish. Lefrancios comes third despite the fact that he had to qualify through the last chance!
