Maxime Renaux beats favorites in Berck-sur-Mer!
Maxime Renaux won the opening event of the French sand competition championship today in the sand of Berck-sur-Mer. The Yamaha rider won the final of the 16th edition of Beach Cross ahead of last Le Touquet winner Nathan Watson and Jeffrey Dewulf. Todd Kellett and Milko Potisek, who led the race for a while, rounded out the top five.
Behind them, a group crossed the finish line with the Belgians Jeremy Van Horebeek, who won the second series earlier today, ahead of Axel Van De Sande and Steve Ramon. Daymond Martens won his second heat and finished in 11th place in the final ranking ahead of Jeremy Hauquier. As for Mattéo Puffet, he places his little KTM 250 SX-F 38th in the scratch rankings.
In the Juniors, one Miot follows the other. After the 2019 season dominated by Mathéo, it is now his brother Florian who takes the lead in Berck. The Belgians were very regular and scored well in the general classification, Junior Bal finished in the top 5 ahead of Bours and Labie.
Adrien Petit wins in the Espoirs while Romain Couprie is on the top step of the podium in the Quads. Jérémie Warnia became the winner of the second series, but the bogeyman of the discipline had to withdraw in the 3rd and last race of the weekend. He is satisfied with a 9th place. Davino Bruneel finished 6th and Limburger Oliver Vandendijck scored 10th place in the overall ranking.
The next race for the Ronde des Sables will take place next weekend at the Loon-Plage circuit in Dunkirk.
