Mathias Van Hoof achieves double victory in World Enduro Championship!
During the last weekend before the Enduro World Championship in Ambert, France, Herentals rider Mathias Van Hoof managed to take a double victory in the Open 4 Stroke class. This performance allowed him to ultimately reach third place in the World Cup Open 4 Stroke Championship.
After the vice title at the Inters a week ago, the Denicol Beta rider went straight to Ambert, France, for the final round of the World Championship. After the bad luck in Greece, Mathias still had a chance to take third place in the Open 4S class, but then he had to win both heats. And due to the absence of 2 competitors from England, those chances increased a bit.
The organization in the French Massif Central had designed a very selective race with particularly tough tests and a difficult connection that already caused major problems for many riders. The extreme test was challenging with many extra obstacles, tree trunks. The enduro test was very long, technically difficult and also narrow with slopes, roots... a real World Cup test. The Cross test was a typical French enduro test on a rolling meadow, but smooth and very fast.
It started on Friday evening with the Supertest where Mathias scored a 7de time and a 4de ranked in his class. “I didn't want to make any mistakes and started without pushing, because I knew it was going to be very tough the next few days. “The start on Saturday started off a bit poorly with a small slide in the very slippery extreme test for Mathias, but he immediately corrected that in the enduro test and the cross test with a scratch time and thus took the lead in the standings. In the 2de During the first lap the Beta rider did it again, set another 2 scratch times and extended his lead. After 7 tests his lead was more than 14 seconds and he was able to climb to the top step of the podium and add the maximum of 20 points.
On Sunday, the young rider from Herentals again gave everything, because he had to win to get 3 moree to be in the final standings. “We had leased a 350 machine from Boana and it was set up perfectly for me. The suspension, the power, everything ran perfectly and it allowed me to concentrate 100% on driving. “ This again resulted in 3 scratch times, and a large lead in the cross and enduro test. No matter what the competition tried, Van Hoof remained concentrated and managed to win again by almost 15 seconds. That meant another 20 points extra to the total and after deducting the worst result, the Belgian Inter finished third in the final standings in the World Open Cup 4 Stroke: “I have worked so hard for this, trained and done a lot for this. This World Cup bronze medal is the icing on the cake. It was a very tough season with many highs and a few lows, but this medal makes you forget everything and is pure enjoyment. Now a few more test competitions and then to the Six Days in Portugal where I try to achieve Gold with another BETA 350 from Boano. They have proven with Freeman how to prepare a motorcycle and I have full confidence in them. “
