No more Grand Prix for Tommy Searle!
Yesterday Tommy Searle announced that he will no longer be active on Kawasaki in 2020. Now follows the news from the Brit that he is no longer part of the FIM MXGP world championship. The 30-year-old rider will focus on competitions in his own country, but in which colors is currently unclear.
In 2005, Searle made his GP debut at the Matchams Park circuit and immediately managed to finish in the points in both heats. After two seasons with the Molson Kawasaki Team, he switched to KTM in 2007 and took the vice title in the FIM MX2008 World Championship in 2. He then also left for the USA for KTM, but the real breakthrough did not come. In 2011, 'Tommy Gun' returns to Europe to try for the MX2 world title for Team CLS. In the first year, Searle finished third behind Ken Roczen and Jeffrey Herlings. A season later Searle finished second behind Herlings! Searle has been active in MXGP since 2013, but his greatest successes have come from MX2. He won 13 Grand Prix and stood on the podium 47 times! The last time dates back to September 23, 2012 when he triumphed at the German GP in Teutschenthal.
This year Searle won the Maxxis British Championship MX1, a title he also won in 2016 with MonsterEnergy-Dixon Racing Team. There will be more news in the short term, but Searle will defend the title they won this year in 2020!
